Counselling For Depression in Bristol

You’re Not Alone — We’re Here to Help

Depression can feel like a heavy weight. It can make even the smallest tasks feel overwhelming and disconnect you from the people and things you once enjoyed. At Heart to Heart, we offer compassionate, affordable counselling for depression in Bristol — giving you a safe space to talk, explore what’s going on, and begin to find your way through.
Whether your depression has been building for years or has taken you by surprise, our trained therapists are here to support you without judgement. You don’t have to face this alone.

What Is Depression?

Below is an example of the issues we work with

  • Persistent sadness or numbness
  • A lack of motivation or energy
  • Difficulty sleeping, or sleeping too much
  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Feeling worthless or hopeless
  • Tearfulness or emotional flatness
  • Irritability or feeling on edge
  • Withdrawing from friends, family or work
  • Changes in appetite
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide

You may not be able to “explain” why you feel this way. That doesn’t make your experience any less real. Depression is not a sign of weakness — it’s a signal that something needs attention, and that support is possible.

How Can Counselling Help?

Our therapy for depression in Bristol offers a non-judgemental space to explore what’s going on for you. Together, we’ll look at your experiences, beliefs, and emotional responses — gently and at your own pace.

Therapy can help you:

  • Understand the root causes or triggers of your depression
  • Identify unhelpful thought patterns or behaviours
  • Rebuild a sense of purpose and self-worth
  • Learn tools for managing low mood, overwhelm or emotional spirals
  • Feel more connected to others and to yourself
  • Begin to make positive changes — big or small

There’s no pressure to “fix” everything at once. We’ll start where you are, and take it one step at a time.

Our Therapists

Heart to Heart has a diverse team of qualified and trainee therapists, all working in line with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or National Counselling Society (NCS) ethical frameworks.

Our team includes both male and female therapists, and people with a wide range of experience in:

  • Depression and low mood
  • Trauma and abuse
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Identity and self-esteem
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship challenges
  • Life transitions
  • Loneliness and isolation

We take care to match you with a therapist who’s right for you. You can let us know if you have specific preferences or needs, and we’ll always respect your boundaries and identity.

Counselling for Loneliness

Loneliness often goes hand-in-hand with depression — and it’s something we work with every day. You might feel alone in a crowd, cut off from loved ones, or simply like nobody really understands what you’re going through.

Counselling can help you:

  • Explore feelings of disconnection
  • Rebuild confidence and social comfort
  • Understand past patterns that may affect how you relate to others
  • Create healthier relationships — including with yourself
  • Feel more grounded, valued and supported

You deserve to feel seen, heard, and accepted just as you are.

Young People and Depression

We offer counselling for young people aged 12 and up, many of whom are struggling with low mood, exam pressure, identity, or feelings of being left out or invisible.

Our approach with young clients is age-appropriate, non-clinical and centred on trust. Whether you’re a parent or a teenager yourself, we can offer a starting point — and a pathway forward.
